Congressional Military Family Caucus features Partners in PROMISE
The 2019 Congressional Military Family Caucus changed the way that Congress looked at special education students and the EFMP. It led to the foundation of Partners in PROMISE and encouraging legislation that has been proposed in the 2021 NDAA.
So this year, Michelle Norman, Executive Director of Partners in PROMISE, was asked to take the lead role in the formation of discussion panels. The focus of this year’s panels is on elevating the military spouse voice and their perspective on how COVID-19 affected military families’ readiness. The panels will discuss lessons learned and best practices gained through this year.
So we are thrilled to have been asked to take such an active part of the 2020 Congressional Military Family Caucus (MFC) Virtual Summit. This virtual event will allow families to connect with leaders in a way previous in person events have prevented.
The Special Education speakers will include Partners in PROMISE founder and Executive Director, Michelle Norman, founder and special education attorney Grace Kim and Chief Operating Officer and military family reporter, Jennifer Barnhill. We will share our initial Military Special Education Survey findings as well as the stories from our special education/EFMP community.
The summit will feature opening remarks from Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Congressman Sanford Bishop, and Col. Cassius Bentley of Fairchild Air Force Base. U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper will also be joining as this year’s keynote speaker. Click the link below to register for the event!
